SICILIA TABLE
Aluminium ground casting and stainless steel table.
This table is an experiment which aims at integrating traditional artisanal processes and innovative rapid prototyping techniques - The technical word being: Computer Aided Design and Machining. But let's try and simplify: we started from a simple 2D elevation map of Sicilia, we built a 3D model and tweaked it.
We then 3D printed and milled the object which was then cast in sand and reproduced in molten aluminum. The surface surrounding the sculpture is hand painted. Sounds easy no? A highly interesting manual and artisanal craft if you want our opinion.
