The Malizia liveries are based on Monegasque folklore. It was on the night of the 8th of January 1297, that Francesco Grimaldi, called il Malizia ("the Cunning"), the Genoese leader of the Guelphs, captured the Rock of Monaco. Dressed as a Franciscan monk, Francesco was greeted at the gates of Monaco's castle, only then to seize the castle with his cousin Rainier I, Lord of Cagnes. He held the citadel of Monaco for four years before being chased out by the Genoese. We voluntarily used a striking image of a monk, ghost, somehow resembling gamers iconography, to step away from the corporate, to propose something visually daring, finding our inspiration in the tradition rather than in the convention.
